METHOD FOR PRODUCING BOOK BLOCK FROM STACK OF SIGNATURE BEING ALIGNED WITH ONE ANOTHER ON THEIR FLAT SIDES AND STITCHED TOGETHER BY MEANS OF BINDING THREAD AND APPARATUS FOR PRACTICING THIS METHOD IN USE

PURPOSE: To surely produce book blocks by a method wherein a last formed loop-like section of a binding thread is fixed or fastened at the back formed by folds of signatures or the chained transverse seam. ;CONSTITUTION: Signatures 2 treated in advance with a preliminary piercing needle piercing from the inside to the outside through folds below is brought into contact with stitched book blocks 3 as new book blocks 4 and a needle 6 and a hook needle 7 are pierced into holes of the folds 10 of the signatures 2. In addition, a loop 12 is formed by an operation taking up a little and returning the needle 6 from the binding thread 5 pierced below the edge parts of the folds 10 under two series condition and is delivered to a hook 11 of the hook needle 7. Then, the needles 6 and 7 are returned to the starting point above the just processed signatures 2. Then, the hook needle is rotated by 180° and is aligned in the opposite direction to the stacked direction. In addition, the loop part 12 is succeeded for the next signatures 2 by lowering and revolving to make the loop part 12 smaller at an appropriate interval for the next signatures 2 by stretching force of the binding thread 5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
