PURPOSE: To obtain a compsn. which consists of a mixture composed of sorbitol, saccharose, calcium gluconate. trisodium citrate, lysine and arginine, stabilizes the plasma under low-temp. sterilization and is capable of sterilizing a large volume of plasma at a low temp. CONSTITUTION: This compsn. for stabilizing the plasma under the low-temp. sterilization is obtd. by mixing the sorbitol, the saccharose, the calcium gluconate. the trisodium citrate, the lysine and the arginine. At the time of subjecting the plasma to the low-temp. sterilization, this compsn. is added to the plasma prior to the heating stage and is subjected top the low-temp. sterilization by heating the compsn. for 10 hours at 60 deg.C and, thereafter, the mixture is dialyzed against a buffer soln. contg. trisodium citrate, calcium gluconate, sodium chloride, lysine and arginine, by which saccharides, such as sorbitol and saccharose, the removed from the compsn. and the plasma is stabilized. A large volume of the plasma is thus efficiently subjected to the low-temp. sterilization.
