MONOHYDROGENTARTRATE CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURE OF TARTARIC ACID HAVING NONLINEAR QUADRATIC EFFECT, PRODUCTION OF THE CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURE AND DEVICE HAVING ELECTRO-OPTICAL EFFECT CONTAINING SUCH CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURE
PURPOSE: To obtain a new crystalline structure having nonlinear quadratic effects by blending 2-amino-5-nitropyridine with left-handed and/or right-handed tartaric acid in a solvent and crystallizing a mixture. ;CONSTITUTION: The crystalline structure consists of optionally substituted 2- amino-5-nitropyridinium cation in combination with a polyanionic organic matrix formed of left-handed or right-handed tartaric acid monohydrogen anions and has the nonlinear quadratic effects and a wide transparency range extending from the visible region to the near infrared region. The crystalline structure can be obtained by the following method. That is, one mol of the optionally substituted 2-amino-5-nitropyridine is blended with at least two moles of left- handed and/or right-handed tartaric acid in a proper solvent, particularly in water and the mixture is crystallized. When used tartaric acid is at least partially racemic body (left-handed and right-handed), left-handed crystals and right-handed crystals are separated.
