PURPOSE: To prevent input of an excessive stress to a damping device connected to a frame and hold the damping device in a sound state. ;CONSTITUTION: A damping frame comprises a high rigid frame 2 of rigid frame structure having one end joined in a rigid manner with a frame 4 and assembled within the surface of the frame 4 and a shearing yield member 3 having one end joined in a rigid manner with the high rigid frame 2 and protruded from the high rigid frame 2 toward the damping device 5 side and the other end connected to the damping device 5 and formed of a shearing yield member 3 having strength lower than that of the rigid frame 2. An earthquake resisting device is burdened with a horizontal force transmitted from the damping device 5 during in-plane deformation of the frame 4. By setting a horizontal bearing force, determined based on the yield bearing force of a shearing yield member 3, to a value lower than the allowable bearing force of the damping device 5, the shearing yield member 3 is yielded by a load lower than the bearing force of the damping device 5 in a state that it is burdened with a horizontal force when an excessive horizontal force is exerted, and an input of a load exceeding an allowable bearing force on the damping device 5 is prevented from occurring.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
