PURPOSE: To provide a new linear type ultrasonic motor wherein it generates not traveling waves but standing waves on a face faced with a moving body at a stator part and it drives the moving body efficiently to a rectlinear direction. ;CONSTITUTION: The title motor is provided with a rectlinearly flat and thin stator part 10 and with a moving body 20 which is driven to a rectlinear direction. The stator part 10 includes a vibrating elastic body 14, a piezoelectric element 12 and a plurality of protrusion parts 18 formed on a face 16 faced with the moving body. When an AC voltage is applied to a voltage application region in the piezoelectric element 12 faced with the moving body, standing waves are generated on the face 16 faced with the moving body. The protrusion parts 18 are formed between flanks and nodes in the standing waves, oval- shaped vibrations are generated at edges of the protrusion parts 18, and the moving body 20 coming into contact with the protrusion parts 18 is driven to a rectlinear direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
