This paper introduces an improved nitrogen air production process, which is suitable for the recovery of non-ferrous metals and alloys, the recovery of metals, the sintering of metal powders and ceramics, and the sealing of glass into metals with nitrogen generated at non low temperature. These atmospheres are produced by (1) diluting the nitrogen produced in a non low temperature form, which contains less than 5.0% of the residual oxygen volume, (2) mixing it with a specific amount of hydrocarbon gas, (3) heating the gas mixture in the heating zone of a furnace through a diffuser,and 4) convert in situ the residual oxygen and moisture present therein, to a mixture of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, moisture, and / or hydrogen. Key features of the present invention include a) humidifying the feed gas before introducing it into the heating zone of an oven, operated above about 800 ° C and b) using a large amount of a hydrocarbon gas to facilitate conversion in of the residual oxygen and moisture present in the feed gas, to a mixture of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, moisture and hydrogen in the heating zone of an oven.
