the invention relates to a method for the determination of the ultrasonic speed of sound in bone tissue, in order to assess decreases in density and / or structural changes.the measurement system includes an ultrasonic generator with a probe station and a recipient of appropriate frequency. the system with monitor will display the signals.the probes will be housed on a compass or arms that we can measure the distance.the measurement of the time taken by the ultrasound to cross the bone is performed with reference to the start of the signal emitted and or peak of the signal received to a predeterminedamplitude. since the amplitude depends on the density and speed of the decline of these will decrease the amplitude of the signal being transmitted.the speed that measured will result in bone with decreased density less than the real speed. this makes it possible to evaluate even small decreases in density with accuracy.you can use this method in various districts skeletal disorders, but the ideal is the metafisi distal of the proximal phalanx of the fingers, with the direction of measurement latero lateral.the subject of the complaint are the district where to perform bone measurements and the measurement of the speed of ultrasound in function of the size of the signal received by the receiving probe.
