Connecting element for wall structures which comprise two solid layers and an insulating layer located therebetween for heat insulation, sound insulation and fireproofing, the connecting element having a body 1 and two spreader elements 2a, 2b provided at the respective ends of the body 1. A cost-effective connecting element which is easy to process is achieved in that the body 1 and the spreader elements 2a, 2b are designed in a single piece from profiled sheet metal, in that the spreader elements 2a, 2b are bent over by an angle of between 110 degree and 160 degree, preferably of between 125 degree and 145 degree, in relation to the longitudinal axis of the body 1, and in that the bending axis 12a of one spreader element 2a is aligned essentially perpendicularly to the bending axis 12b of the other spreader element 2b.
