An apparatus for automatically feeding and packing surimi (3a) of fish or shellfish comprises a feed hopper (12), a screw feeder (30) disposed within said hopper, a feed pump (38) and a forming tube (15) for forming surimi (3a) into a desired shape, and a wrapping tube forming means for forming a plastic film (8) into a continuous wrapping tube (812) to be packed with said surimi (3a). A communication chamber (37) is disposed between said screw feeder (30) and said feed pump (38). A pressure gauge (40) is disposed at said communication chamber (37), and a level gauge (41) is disposed at said hopper (12). Control means (43) are provided for supplying a driving signal to said feed pump (38) only when said level gauge (41) detects a signal and said pressure gauge (40) detects surimi pressure in access of a reference pressure. A return path (48) is formed between said two screws.
