At least one bolt of the rifle has a movable safety catch part (14) which engages over the sear bar (3) in the safe position (14.1), so that it is unable to jump out of the notch (5) on the sear (6). The safety catch part (14) is mounted so as to pivot about an axis (13) which is parallel to the bar axis (16) and is acted upon in the pivoting direction by the force of a spring (15.1) which holds the safety catch part (14) out of engagement on the sear bar (3). The force of the spring (15.1) and the moment of inertia of the safety catch part (14) about its pivoting axis (13) are such that the recoil force exerted by a shot which has been made temporarily pivots the safety catch part (14), by virtue of its inertia, against the force of the spring (15.1) into the safe position (14.1).
