A process for separating and recovering an organic phase (e.g., fluorocarbons, such as chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, hydrofluorocarbons and perfluorocarbons) of a feed stream of a mixture of fluorocarbons and hydrogen fluoride wherein the mixture is characterized by forming at least one azeotrope or azeotrope using at least one fluorocarbon and hydrogen fluoride, comprising passing the feed stream mixed fluorocarbon / fluoride hydrogen from the feed side of a semipermeable membrane, and then separating again a flow of depleted hydrogen fluoride permeate fluorocarbon and a residual-enriched stream exiting the fluorocarbon membrane by conventional distillation. Recovering a pure fluorocarbon phase and a hydrogen fluoride phase by distillation, the azeotropic distillate or azeotrope being recycled to the inlet of the semipermeable membrane.
