Fuel injection nozzle has a nozzle body and fine hole jets terminating in the combusion chamber. The hole jets (10) are reduced in size near the outlet (12) by a convergent deposit (16) of hard material. The hole jet deposit (16) has a rounded projection (13) above the nozzle body (1) at the outlet (12) and consist of a hard metallic or ceramic material applied by electro-chemical, chemical or vapour deposition (CVD,PVD) or deposition from a metal melt. USE/ADVANTAGE - For diesel engine fuel injection nozzles. The convergent profile of the fine hole jets promotes efficient atomisation of the fuel spray and is difficult to produce by other means.
