The pressure and/or the vol. flow at the pump output and/or the pump piston speed, or a value continuously measured depending on this is taken. The resulting values using the sensors (19,20,21) are converted in to electrical signals which are fed into an electronic evaluation unit (23). If during the working operation the pressure and/or the vol. flow fails to reach a specified value, and/or the piston speed fails to reach a specified speed, the output signals from the electronic evaluation unit operate a control, so that the electrically controlled drive connection between the motor (13) and the pump or the electrical supply to the pump motor is interrupted. ADVANTAGE - Pump motor is automatically switched off, if no material is to be found in pump chamber.
