The elements are sealing strings (13), each surrounded by a clamping strip (14), which presses it against the rotary sealing face. The clamping strip is secured against twisting in the sealing ring housing. The butting edges of a sealing string round the sealing face have an opposite spacing (20) with oblique incisions w.r.t. the peripheral direction. In the latter, the clamping band ends may overlap. ADVANTAGE - No sensitiveness against dew point low temp., when inert gas with condensation components is used.
