The lens comprises refraction, diffraction and/or reflection optical elements receiving the beam (1) from a Nd-YAG laser via a 200 micron optical fibre (2). One or more of their optical surfaces has adjacent partial surfaces (11,12) exhibiting an abrupt change in the beam deflection parameters. The latter partial surfaces may have different curvature radii or they may comprise planar surfaces with their normal vectors extending in different directions, e.g. provided by the planar surface of a plano-convex lens (9). ADVANTAGE - Low-cost lens providing multiple focus at machined surface.
