The device for processing workpieces (1) with the help of a laser beam, comprises means, which directs laser beam and is equipped with a focusing lens system and stationary means for deflecting laser beam and focusing lens system provided with a movable optical imaging element for focusing the laser beam. The focusing lens system has optical imaging element, which is disposed in front of the movable optical imaging element or as the last imaging element in the beam path (2). The means is movably arranged in three space directions and in three orientation directions. The device for processing workpieces (1) with the help of a laser beam, comprises means, which directs laser beam and is equipped with a focusing lens system and stationary means for deflecting laser beam and focusing lens system provided with a movable optical imaging element for focusing the laser beam. The focusing lens system has optical imaging element, which is disposed in front of the movable optical imaging element or as the last imaging element in the beam path (2). The means is movably arranged in three space directions and in three orientation directions. The movement axis is adjusted by a robot application for the disposal. The optical imaging element is continuously arranged in adjustable manner. The means for deflecting the laser beam consists of dielectric reflector. The reflector is formed in planar manner. The adjustable range of the optical imaging element is 20 mm. The gear ratio of the adjustable range of the optical imaging element and the height of the operating distance is 1:30. The optical imaging element is moveable with the help of electromotive adjusting means and is formed as concave or convex. A protecting glass, optical sensor system, and an optical fiber are intended in the device. An independent claim is included for a method for processing workpieces with the help of a laser beam.
