A component (3) leaving the machining installation (2) is transported by the belt (1) to a position above the stacking table (4). The transport velocity is reduced to zero, and the support is gradually withdrawn from underneath the component by rotation and displacement of the roller (6) towards the machining installation. This allows the component to tilt (as an initial stage of stacking) and its front end to come into contact with the stacking table. The appts. is characterised by a belt conveyor with displaceable end rollers (6,8) in connected horizontal guideways (7,9) located respectively above and below the stacking table. The conveyor is provided with movable support rollers linked to one another. The position of the stacking table (4) is vertically adjustable. USE/ADVANTAGE - For stacking of recently cut sheet metal plates. Gentle stacking of components at high speed and with a low noise level is made possible.
