Equipment for stacking workpieces esp. square and flat bars in layers and forming from the layers bunches of predetermined number of workpieces including a conveyor by which the workpieces are brought on vertically adjustable stacking table located below delivery end of the conveyor. Mounted above and across delivery end of the conveyor is vertically adjustable horizontal roller by which workpieces positioned by guides arranged along the conveyor are held in horizontal position during their transfer from conveyor on stacking table. The stacking table is fitted with a pusher with variable stroke by which stacks of workpieces when they reach a predetermined height are removed from the stacking table in direction across their length.
