An oxidn. catalyst comprising Ti silicalite supported on a metal oxide is claimed. The Ti silicalite forms 1-90 (30-50) wt.% of the catalyst, has an atomic ratio of Si:Ti of 10-100. The carrier is Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, ZrO2 and/or Al2O3.SiO2. The catalyst is made by pptn. of TiO2-SiO2 mixt. onto the oxide phase, or pptn. of SiO2 onto the oxide phase and impregnation with a Ti cpd., followed by treatment in an autoclave at 150-200 deg.C for 48-240 h. and washing, filtering and tempering. USE/ADVANTAGE - The catalyst is used for oxidn. under mild conditions, e.g. 20-120 deg.C and pressure at least atmos.. The catalyst is cheap, and easily handled, and has better activity and selectivity.
