The feed slider (16) with which the stacks are pushed into the processing station has an associated intermediate plate (17) which takes up the stack being moved. On reaching the end position the intermediate plate supporting the stack can be withdrawn leaving all the sheets uniformly aligned for the next processing step. The feed slider can also have an associated holding down member (18) which is opposite the intermediate plate and has one or more separate holding down fingers (18a). USE/ADVANTAGE - The stacks can be transferred without the top or bottom sheet rolling up when meeting a non-slip surface.
