Flat objects, such as electronic circuit boards (10), are transported between guide rails that are formed with slots (20) in which the boards are located. The feed motion for the boards is provided by continuous belt loops (40) that pass around pulleys (31,32), the first pulley being coupled to a main drive belt (43). Contact force is applied to the board by a roller (50) mounted on a pivoted arm (61) subjected to the force generated by a coil spring.
