Process and apparatus for continuously cleaning and degassing viscous polymer melts, in that the contaminated thermoplastic material is plasticated (plasticised) in an extruder (25), subsequently the polymer melt is centrifuged in the conical shell (1), the impurities being deposited during the continuous throughput and the polymer melt being degassed by means of a vacuum pump (29), then to be fed by a gear pump (26) under increased melt pressure to a processing device.
