The robot (1) has actuator elements (4) for the accelerator (8), brake and clutch pedals, each with a contact sensor (4d). Setting parameters for the elements are derived with the elements in contact with the pedals during the robot learning phase. The parameter values are compared with values for the elements removed from the pedals to form differences which are added to demand control values for each actuation element for controlling each actuator control system. USE/ADVANTAGE - For vehicle testing involving use of chassis dynamometer. Enables detection and compensation of control or actuation element displacements.
