The first step is producing a rod (1) from untempered steel bar. The rod is then shaped to a determined cross section by cold forging. This cross section is then reduced in axial regions by forging or rolling to form a round region (12) at one end, a neck (13) next to the rounded region, a foot groove (14) and a joint groove (15) ant the other end. The different regions are made one after the other in the above sequence starting at one end of the tie rod and finishing at the other. A hexagonal section (6) may be formed on the end of the rod as a continuation of the sequence. USE/ADVANTAGE - For the automotive industry. Has improved shock absorbency and longer life and has a high elasticity. Production output is improved and cost will be reduced.
