A device for controlling the brakes of a locomotive comprising two alternatively used control members which actuate two signal generators (2,3) connected respectively to the changeover terminals (23,29) of a switch (11) and a control circuit (16). The common terminal of the switch (17) is connected to the braking circuit of the locomotive, and the commutation of the switch (11) is achieved electronically by the control circuit 16 in dependence on particular signals generated by the said generators (2,3).
