The device comprises a flexible rod (1) to be introduced into the human body as a guide (1), when introduced, for a catheter passed thereon, and a flexible, protective aseptic sheath (2) on the flexible rod, closed at one of its ends (2a) and attached at the other end (2b) to a sleeve (3) slidingly mounted on the flexible rod, said flexible rod being extendable through said sleeve beyond said flexible sheath.
