The front body shell (20) is mounted on a transverse section (10) of the body structure and encloses the engine and propulsion unit (14). The propulsion unit may be an IC engine or an electric motor supplied by a battery using electronic control (86). The shell includes an inspection hatch (32) opening (34) giving access to engine components (22,24) and other equipment (16,18,26,28) of the vehicle. The hatch may be closed by a flap (36) front pivoted on the shell. The hatch may be near the rear shell edge (48) close to the transverse mounting. The shell may be a synthetic moulding, with fixings (44) accessible from its rear, inside the vehicle. USE/ADVANTAGE - One piece shell, with bonnet and wings, covering IC engine or electric propulsion device. Provides access to brake and oil.
