Traffic lights for a coastal roadway liable to flooding

The invention relates to an electronic device for automatic control of traffic lights, authorising or forbidding access to roadways which are temporarily liable to flooding; this control is activated by the tide coming in for closing the road, and by the ebb tide for opening the road. Figure 1 illustrates the simplified block diagram of the operation of the device. Sensors (1), (2), (3), installed on the seashore, record the rise or the fall of the tides; after processing of the information (4), it is sent to the bank by radio channel (5), (6) in order, after decoding (7), to activate the traffic lights (8), displaying the authorisation or the prohibition of the use of the roadway. This present invention finds its main application for control of access to the "Passage du Gois", a coastal roadway, liable to flooding over 3.960 kms, linking the continent to the Ile de NOIRMOUTIER in the VENDEE.
