PURPOSE:To extract and recover asphalt with high safety by the use of a nonchlorinated organic solvent, such as a citrus solvent by evacuating a distillation vessel, making a solvent filling space an incombustible gas atmosphere and performing solvent extraction. CONSTITUTION:A two-way flask 3 is filled with a nonchlorinated organic solvent s, such as an extract extracted from the cuticle of citrus fruits, and a solvent filling space is evacuated. Noncombustible CO2 gas, is injected into the solvent liquid in the two-way flask 3 from a gaseous CO2 cylinder 15, and the solvent s in the two-way flask 5 is heated and evaporated. The solvent s is cooled and liquified by cooling water flowing in a cooling water flow passage 39 and accumulated in a filter vessel arrangement part 29. When the solvent s is collected to a prescribed liquid level in the filter vessel arrangement part 29, by the siphon action of a siphon pipe part 33, the solvent s in the filter vessel arrangement part 29 beings to flow into the two-way flask 3. After that, the operation is repeated, and when asphalt in the filter vessel 27 is all extracted, the work is completed.
