PURPOSE:To promote absorption and removal of non-metallic inclusion in molten steel into molten slag by submerging an electrode into the molten slag layer of mold powder and generating the specific quantity of potential difference between the molten slag and the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:At the time of continuously cast the molten steel 9 in a mold 1 by using the mold powder 3, the electrode 6 is submerged into the molten slag layer 4 of the mold powder 3 and the potential difference between the molten slag 4 and the molten steel 9 is generated by DC power source 7 at =0.7 volt (upper limit about 2 volt). By this method, interfacial tension between the molten slag 4 and the molten steel 9 is lowered and alumina in the molten steel is promoted to absorb into the molten slag 4.
