PURPOSE:To improve responsiveness by passing the suspension of ceramics type particles on the sensitive surface of the electrode in contact therewith. CONSTITUTION:A peristalic liquid feed pump 10 is operated to introduce the suspension 12 of alumina particles into a piping tube 11 and the through-hole of the capillary type through-hole electrode 9. The open part of the tube 1 is then connected to constitute a circulation system. The alumina particles of about 0.05 to 2.5mum grain size coexist. The pump 10 is operated for a prescribed period of time and is subjected to a contact treatment and further, the flow of turbid water 12 is reversed. The surface of the electrode film is uniformly polished in this way; thereafter, the tube 11 is disconnected and the turbid water 12 is discharged. Refined water is passed therein to make cleaning. The restoration of the sensitiveness is improved in such a manner.
