ANTITUMOR AGENT, SELECTIVE CYTOTOXIC AGENT FOR HUMAN TUMOR CELL, MICROBIAL STRAIN PRODUCING HEPTELIDIC ACID CHLOROHYDRIN AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To provide an antitumor agent containing heptelidic acid chlorohydrin, having high antitumor activity and exhibiting selective cytotoxic action on human tumor cell. ;CONSTITUTION: This antitumor agent contains the compound of formula or its salt and a pharmacologically permissible carrier as active components. It can be prepared in the form of oral administration agent or parenteral administration agent by conventional method and is administered at a daily rate of 0.01-10mg/kg for parenteral administration and 0.5-20mg/kg for oral administration. The compound of formula can be produced by culturing Acremonium sp. No.618 (a microbial strain belonging to the genus Acremonium and capable of producing heptelidic acid chlorohydrin) in a medium and separating the heptelidic acid chlorohydrin produced and accumulated in the cultured product. The agent exhibits high injuring action exclusively on tumor cells at a low concentration compared with conventional chemotherapeutic agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
