PURPOSE:To shorten the time for measurement and to improve reliability by automating operations from the detection and collection of the time intervals of read pulse data to the calculation and display thereof. CONSTITUTION:¦A signal is delivered from a floppy disk drive (FDD) tester 1 to an FEE tester 2 and the code AA of a memory medium 21 is read out by a magnetic head 22. The code AA is the signal in which 1 and 0 are alternately arranged. The output waveforms indicting the signal 1 and the signal 0 are respectively designated as S1, S0. The signals S1, S0 are converted to read pulse data in a waveform conversion circuit 23 and are inputted to a selection circuit 4. The circuit 4 divides input pulses alternately to form the signals FD1, RD2 which are then inputted to a signal synthesizing part 5. The clock signals from an oscillation circuit 52 are counted by counters 54A, 54B while both signals RD1, RD2 are at the high level. The count values are respectively the peak-to-peak time intervals T1, T2 from the signals S1 to S0 and from S0 to S1. The max. value of the difference between the intervals T1 and T2 is calculated by an arithmetic part 6 by which the asymmetry is displayed and a series of the operations are automated.
