PURPOSE:To obtain the steel strip having high magnetic flux density and low core loss in a high exciting area by subjecting a grain-oriented silicon steel strip contg. specified amounts of Si, having a texture in a specified orientation and having crystal grains of prescribed average grain size to cold rolling into a prescribed final sheet thickness and executing primary recrystallization annealing. CONSTITUTION:A grain-oriented silicon steel strip constituted of, by weight, =8% Si and the balance substantial iron, having a {110} 010 orientation texture, having 0.9B8/BS magnetic flux density (BS denotes the saturation magnetic flux density in the componental series) and having crystal grains of 120mm and =40mm grain size each in the rolling direction and in the direction vertical to this is used as a starting material. The material is subjected to cold rolling for one or more times at 60 to 80% rolling reduction into a final sheet thickness of =150mum and is thereafter subjected to primary recrystallization annealing, by which the extra thin silicon steel strip can be manufactured.
