METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FILLING IN FORM USING PRINTER

PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive method and apparatus for filling in forms by a data processing system. ;CONSTITUTION: A printer 23 is provided with a small scanner located upstream along a paper path 31 from a printing device such as a printing head. A form is loaded into the printer 23 and advanced incrementally along the paper path 31. A segment of the form is scanned by the scanner 41. A user provides information in the selected blank space of the displayed segment with a keyboard. The user then commands the printer 23 to print wherein the information is printed in the selected blank space of the segment by the printing head 35.
