PURPOSE: To make it possible to carry out many after-assembly inspections by the use of fewest possible special or redundant apparatuses, libraries, and programs. CONSTITUTION: This is an improved inspection system 30 for printed circuit boards in which an inspection probe is positioned so as to engage electronically with a selected device on a printed circuit board 41 or its printed circuit board part in order to inspect the printed circuit boards 41 for defects on manufacture. Further, the system operates the robot-type inspection device 38 and selects a spring probe to be excited in the bed-of-nail type fixture 36 by the use of a control device 31.
