PURPOSE: To separate a sample component with high accuracy by simple constitution by switching voltage to be impressed on plural electrode points arranged in a separating passage. CONSTITUTION: Three electrode points 2E1, 2E2 and 2E3 are arranged in a separating passage 208. A distributing means 204 impresses positive voltage on the electrode point 2E1, and negative voltage on the electrode point 2E2, and establishes a separating electric field 2F1. A sample is injected into a capillary 206 under this condition. The sample is attracted toward the electrode point 2E2 by the electric field 2F1, and separation of sample components 2S1 and 2S2 is started. When the component 2S2 reaches a transition point 2TA, the distributing means 204 switches an electric field to an electric field 2F2 from the electric field 2F1 and to an electric field 2F3 in the next place by impressing negative voltage on the electrode point 2E3. Under the influence of the comparatively strong electric field 2F3, the component 2S1 moves further to the downstream side toward the electrode point 2E3 from the electrode point 2E2. Next, a detector 210 identifies and quantitatively determines these when the component 2S1 and the other sample component pass through a detecting point 2D1.
