PURPOSE: To reduce thermal, optical and electric leaks by exactly positioning and separating a laser element by conducting heat, which is generated in the laser element, to the outside in a high thermal diffusivity region and decreasing the thermal leak between laser elements in a low thermal diffusivity region. ;CONSTITUTION: On a non-monolithic laser array, two laser elements 20a and 20b are attached on a holder 102. The holder 102 has a T-shaped compound structure composed of conductive high thermal diffusivity sections 106a and 106b, surrounding a low thermal diffusivity core 104. A current flowing through the laser element generates heat and that heat flows to the high thermal diffusivity sections 106a and 106b, so that the laser element can be cooled. Heat flowing through the high thermal diffusivity sections 106a and 106b is easily removed by a suitable heat sink. Since the low thermal diffusivity section 104 becomes a heat barrier for decreasing the flow of heat between laser elements, so that a thermal leak can be decreased.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
