EDGE FINISHING METHOD FOR MAGNETIC TAPE AND ITS EDGE FINISHING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To provide the edge finishing device capable of removing cutting flaws, such as burrs and flashes generated at tape edges in the cutting process of magnetic tapes and simultaneously removing cutting chips as well. ;CONSTITUTION: A shaping material 15 consisting of a polishing tape is transferred and guided by roller pairs in a direction orthogonal with the moving direction of the magnetic tapes 4. The roller pairs consist of a pair of right and left main rollers 18, 18 and inverting rollers 19. The main rollers 18 are arranged to face the adjacent spacings of the magnetic tapes 4. The shaping material 15 is guided to continuous peak shapes intersecting with the traveling plane of the magnetic tapes 4 by three pieces of the rollers 18, 18, 19. V-shaped shaping parts 23 having ascending and descending slopes 23a, 23b are disposed between the adjacent main rollers 18 and 18. The tape edges 4b of the moving magnetic tapes 4 are brought into pressurized contact with the shaping parts 23 and the magnetic tapes are subjected to finish treatments while the shaping materials 15 are fed at a slight speed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
