MULTI-TUBULAR DISCHARGE LAMP AND PHOTOCHEMICAL REACTION APPARATUS USING THE DISCHARGE LAMP

PURPOSE: To prevent a proximity conductor from being brought into contact with an arc tube or being cut and provide a multi-tubular discharge lamp having good starting properties and a photochemical reaction apparatus. ;CONSTITUTION: A discharge lamp is composed of an arc tube 4 made of a ceramic and in which electrodes are sealed and a flexible linear proximity conductor 7 installed near the outer surface of the light emitting tube 4 wherein the tube 4 and the conductor 7 are put in an outer tube. The proximity conductor 7 is installed near an electrode 44b in the lower side of the light emitting tube 4 and inserted into a guide moderately and at the same time a multitubular discharge lamp L having a loose part 73 is installed at the position avoiding the electrodes and the discharge lamp L is used as a light source. Consequently, even if the light emitting tube is expanded or contracted due to thermal expansion, the proximity conductor can follow the expansion or contraction, so that crack formation or rupture of the proximity conductor 7 due to the contact of the proximity conductor 7 and the light emitting tube does not occur and at the same time the starting voltage can be lowered and the lighting apparatus can be produced at low cost and safety can be improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
