MANUFACTURE OF ZINC ALLOY POWDER FOR BATTERY AND ALKALINE BATTERY USING THE ZINC ALLOY POWDER

PURPOSE: To provide zinc alloy powder excellently resistant to liquid leakage from a view point of the economy and the quality even with no addition of mercury by magnetically selecting the zinc alloy powder using magnetic separator in which neighboring up and down magnet grids are crossing each other at proper angle. ;CONSTITUTION: Zinc alloy powder for batteries is obtained by selecting the zinc alloy powder magnetically using a magnetic separator composed of a plurality of magnetic grid sets which are prepared by setting neighboring up and down magnet grids arranged at a constant gap as to cross each other at proper angles. The larger the number of the sets of the magnetic grids is, the greater the iron-based light impurity removing effect is, and it is thus preferable to put 5 or more sets. However, the sets are too many, they need a longer space. Either an electromagnet or a permanent magnet can be used for the magnet but from the view point of the workability to remove magnetized substances, since it is easy for an electromagnet to remove them, an electromagnet is much more preferable than a permanent magnet.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
