WATER-SWELLABLE RUBBER COMPOSITION AND WATER-SWELLABLE RUBBER WATERSTOP MATERIAL

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition, having slight deterioration in volume expansion ratio, hardly eluting components and useful as various waterstop materials, etc., by mixing natural rubber and/or a synthetic rubber with a highly water absorbing resin, a polyalkylene oxide derivative and a thermosetting polyurethane. ;CONSTITUTION: This water-swellable rubber composition is obtained by mixing (A) 100 pts.wt. natural rubber and/or synthetic rubber with (B) 5-10 pts.wt. highly water absorbing resin (isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, etc.), (C) 1-30 pts.wt. polyalkylene oxide derivative (PEG, etc.) and (D) 1-20 pts.wt. thermosetting polyurethane. The component (D) is prepared by blending a polyether glycol-based isocyanate prepolymer with a bi- or a polyfunctional polyether glycol derivative having terminal hydroxyl groups as a curing agent and is cured by heating in vulcanizing and molding a raw material rubber composition.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
