PURPOSE: To obtain an economical orange soap effective in washing both natural fibers and synthetic fibers through the utilization of waste material, by using caustic soda and an essence obtd. by aging orange peel for a specific period of time. ;CONSTITUTION: Cleaned orange peel is placed together with water in a vessel, which is then plugged with a cork while leaving a 5-mm air layer in the upper portion of the vessel. They are stirred once or twice every day for about 1 month, and then allowed to stand still to age the orange peel for 3 months in total. After aging, the peel is taken out from the vessel and then placed in another vessel wherein the peel is then ground with a wooden pestle or a rolling pin. The resulting mashed essence is transferred into the original vessel. The foregoing procedure is repeated until the appearance of the peel disappears completely. The resulting orange essence is transferred into a pot wherein it is boiled, followed by addn. thereto of caustic soda.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
