PURPOSE: To provide an original platen for a book original in which the whole original platen can be miniaturized. ;CONSTITUTION: The original platen 1 is divided into right and left parts. and they are supported so as to be moved rightward/leftward respectively, and the shelfback of the book original BO can be supported by linking supporting means mutually. Such regulation that a left side page placing means and a right side page placing means can keep equal distance to prescribed right/left direction reference positions set in advance, respectively is performed by a regulating means for placing board, etc. The regulating means for placing board, etc., is constituted of a gear supported rotatably so as to be moved in the up- and-down direction on prescribed right and left direction reference lines set in advance, a first rack supported so as to be moved as engaging with the gear, and a second rack supported so as to be moved as engaging with the opposite side of the first rack, and the first rack and the second rack can be moved in parallel with each other, and the right terminal part of the left side page placing means is coupled with the terminal part of the first rack rotatably freely, and the left terminal part of the right side page placing means is coupled with the terminal part of the second rack rotatably freely.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
