PURPOSE: To produce an ultrahigh-pressure sintered compact with a piston cylinder type device by forming the pressure transmission medium material in the outer peripheral part of the assembly to a cylindrical body and constituting the top end and bottom end of this cylindrical body of an easily compressible material having a compression rate higher than the compression rate possessed by the pressure transmission medium material. ;CONSTITUTION: The pressure transmission medium material, such as pyrophyllite, in the outer peripheral part of the assembly is formed to the cylindrical body. The top end and/or bottom end of the cylindrical body is composed of the easily compressible material 7, such as 'TeflonR', having the compression rate higher, by, for example, ≥30%, than the compression rate of the pressure transmission medium material 1 in the outer peripheral part. The pressurizing force on the assembly is, therefore, transmitted via the easily compressible material 7, the pressure transmission medium material 1 in the outer peripheral part and the internal pressure transmission medium material 2 consisting of sodium chloride, etc., to a treating raw material 3.
