PURPOSE: To provide a process for the precise separation and recovery of DMSO from a mixture of DMSO and MEA, capable of obtaining a recovery product having a high DMSO content (≥95%) and accordingly enabling the effective recycling of DMSO. ;CONSTITUTION: A mixture of dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO) and monoethanolamine(MEA) is placed in a crystallizing apparatus and cooled to crystallize out solid (the first crystallization) and then the liquid phase is removed. The solid in the apparatus is melted to liquefy and cooled again at the higher temperature than the cooling temperature on the first crystallization to crystallize out solid (the second crystallization) and the liquid phase is removed. The same kind of treatment is repeated to perform the third crystallization at the higher cooling temperature than that of the second crystallization and the solid is separated from the liquid and finally melted.
