The subject of this invention is a bending or twisting machine, in particular for the manufacture of springs with single or double twist, which comprises a unit for conveying the wire to bend with a wire guide which is traversed axially by a passage for the wire. This passage faces a bending tool which is supported by a spindle with a substantially vertical axis. The peculiarity of the machine consists of the fact that the spindle is mounted on a frame which is supported, by a bearing structure, in a movable manner in a direction of horizontal movement substantially perpendicular to the axis of passage of the wire guide. The machine comprises means of control which act on the frame to determine the controlled displacement of the framework itself and therefore of the spindle along the abovementioned direction of movement.
