In the case of delaminated composites being subjected to compressive loads, delamination buckling becomes one of the most common failure modes. In this study, the so-called spring simulation method is utilised to analyse some delaminated plates which contain one or two embedded delaminations. In the adopted method, the system is modelled as a plate on a discontinuous elastic foundation, whilst the elastic adhesive layer between the buckled sublaminates is represented by some parallel springs. The solution is attempted through the minimization of the total potential energy of the system. The effects of bend-twist coupling stiffness terms are included in the analysis. Also, the FEM analysis is performed to determine the buckling load of delaminated plates and the results are compared with those of spring simulation method.
