ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA mechanical tester for instrument for fluid meters,commonly known as an instrument tester, a motorizedbase, a turntable, or an instrument drive simulator,consists of an electric motor, a set of pulleys and apreset counter. Its usefulness is limited to causingthe instrument driving mechanism, thus the instrumentunder test, to travel a predetermined number ofrevolutions and in a predetermined direction. It hasno provision for receiving and making use of thefeedbacks directly from the instrument under test. Theautomatic instrument tester and calibrator providesfor the monitor of events and conditions whichdirectly or indirectly affect the accuracy of theinstrument under test thus reducing the elements ofuncertainty in the instrument calibrating process. Theautomatic instrument tester and calibrator furtherprovides for the computation of the instrument's errorand for storing the test data for further processingand retrieval thus reducing error, calibrating time,and thus reducing operating cost.
