The sales package for sewing needles consists of a bearing plate (11) which has a folding edge (17) for bending the upper plate portion in the region of the level of a holder for the sewing needles. A covering sheet (10), formed from transparent film material, is attached to the bearing plate permanently by its lower sheet part but detachably in the upper region in order to be able to remove the sewing needles from the holder. In order to achieve convenient handling of the package, it is proposed that an area (23) with an undulating profile be provided in the covering sheet and/or in the bearing plate, which area is bounded in the manner of a frame by flat adjoining edge surface zones (24, 24', 25, 25'). Sheaths for accommodating the needles individually are produced between the wave crests of this profiled area.
